Description
Students experiment with each element of a basic 16× refracting telescope and see how the lenses work when assembled without using an optical bench. This simple lab enables students to build a telescope that is similar to Galileo's in performance and construction. They use the telescope to view inverted astronomical images, estimate magnification power, find the focal length of a lens, and to see how the moon looked to Galileo. Kit includes the materials to create 1 refracting telescopes, each with a 43-mm-diam objective lens, 400-mm focal length, and a 17.5-mm-diam eyepiece lens with a 25-mm focal length.
